Registration Section

A registration section is a defined geographic area within which land parcels are registered and assigned unique identifiers. Each registration section is managed by a specific Land Registry office.

Why It Matters

• The same LR number can exist in different registration sections, so the section is critical context
• When conducting an official search, you must visit the correct Land Registry for that section
• Title deeds specify the registration section to remove ambiguity

Common registration sections include Nairobi, Kiambu, Mombasa, and others corresponding to major urban and rural areas. Litmus uses registration section information to narrow searches and reduce false matches.
